Workshop Description
Large Language Models (LLMs) are rapidly transforming how organizations work with information, automate tasks, and augment human decision-making. This high-energy, hands-on online session delivers a clear, practical introduction to LLMs and generative AI, designed to help attendees confidently and productively use LLMs for regulated industry uses cases in just two hours.
Attendees will learn how LLMs actually work under the hood, how they predict and generate text, and why prompt design directly impacts output quality, reliability, and usefulness. This session emphasizes real-world applications across business, analytics, programming, research, and content creation, showing how LLMs can be used as productivity accelerators rather than black-box tools
Through guided examples and snippets, attendees will practice prompt engineering techniques to generate high-quality explanations, structured outputs, ideas, summaries, and code snippets in compliance with regulated industry expectations. This session also covers common limitations, failure modes, and risks associated with generative AI, equipping participants to use these tools responsibly and effectively. Finally, this session places LLMs in the broader generative AI ecosystem, including how they integrate with automation workflows, APIs, private servers, and enterprise systems.
Taught by expert trainer Kirk Paul Lafler, this session is fast-paced, practical, and business-focused, making it ideal for teams and professionals who want immediate, usable skills without unnecessary theory.
Workshop Summary
Taught by Kirk Paul Lafler, this focused online session explains how large language models (LLMs) generate text, where they deliver value, how they can be used responsibly, and where risks arise in regulated settings. Attendees will learn foundational prompt engineering skills and the difference between Generative AI and LLMs while exploring governed use cases across coding, automation, and digital content - emphasizing accuracy, oversight, and compliance with industry requirements.
