Premier Analytics Consulting at the City University of New York (CUNY) NOAA-CESSRST Training Summit

The City University of New York (CUNY) NOAA-CESSRST Training Summit was held on February 19, 2025, at The City College of New York (CCNY) in New York City, New York, bringing together researchers and early-career scientists focused on advanced environmental and climate data analysis.

Ryan Paul Lafler, President, CEO, and Lead Consultant of Premier Analytics Consulting, LLC, delivered a Python training workshop for researchers, post-doctoral scholars, and affiliated personnel within the NOAA Cooperative Science Center for Earth System Sciences and Remote Sensing Technologies (CESSRST) and the City College of New York.

This training focused on processing petabyte-scale environmental datasets in cloud object storage using Python, with an emphasis on efficient, scalable workflows that can be executed on personal computing devices. Demonstrations and hands-on examples included working with CMIP6 simulated climate model outputs and NOAA operational datasets, such as NDFD and RTMA, using modern Python tooling to enable performant access, analysis, and time-series extraction without requiring local data downloads.

This workshop emphasized practical strategies for cloud-native environmental data access, reproducible analysis pipelines, and scalable research workflows applicable to climate science, meteorology, and Earth system research.
